Our 1st Wushu grading exam – 五步拳 … …

Stepping into the cold, empty auditorium alone with 3 教练 sitting behind a table doing the grading, it was kinda exciting & frightening :D .

The auditorium’s floor is laid with carpet, which gives more friction than the badminton court where we hv our usual practices. At a turn, I twisted my ankle. Though my ankle was not injured, but a tension cld be felt. Subsequently, I cldn’t balance well but still managed to complete the set. *phew*

As for hubby, he got no problem except that he ‘uplifted’ the carpet and it flew up … hahaha, like a kungfu master :D . 教练 said he cld ‘go down the mountain’ liao.

The girls didn’t hv problem at all and able to complete the set.

***** 2 wks later *****
Rec’d our results: ALY & GG obtained GOLD, and we obtained SILVER … … all passed and proceed to learn ‘三段长拳’. *yeah*

Went to a spa with Joan to redeem a voucher we got fr the Shape Run … … me wanted massage and Joan wanted facial. The ‘consultant’ then recommended their famous lymph drainage (LD) massage with wrap to me, and I decided to take up her offer bcos I’m a believer in LD and I’d nvr done a wrap b4.

The friendly masseur told me the benefits of LD, Jamu herbs, and of course, promoted their packages while working on me. The massage was not really a massage … i felt tt it was more like effleurage with heavy strokes. After tt, she applied Jamu on my body, wrapped me up and covered me up with a warm blanket. I was left to rest and enjoy the ’steaming’.

The heat was tolerable … then i smelled curry (???) … then i felt like i was being cooked and was laughing at myself. :D

As usual, after the whole thingy, it was sale talk … … the consultant was ok, at least she’s not the overly aggressive type which I encountered at another spa who really pissed me off, but we didn’t sign up too. We thanked her and bade farewell.

Being trained in LDT, I knew tt the masseur did not clear those main lymph nodes, but i still wanna give her the benefit of the doubt by waiting for another day to check out the effect. 2nd day came and went … … er, no diff leh, but I was still glad to hv experienced being wrapped and cooked like mum’s herbal chicken … hahahahaha. ;)

Scene 1
- Woke up at 530am to 打扮美美上战场.
- Planned to meet Joan at 645am, but we reached there ard 705am :P .

Scene 2
- Took some pics with Joan.
- Joined the 5km queue.
- Cheered when the 10km runners were flagged off.
- Waiting for our turn.
- Cheered when we were flagged off.

Scene 3
- Started jogging with Joan until dunno how many metres.
- Then i slowed down while Joan continued on her own.

Scene 4
- Plugged into my iPhone and hoping the music cld keep me going.
- Then i walked … … then i jogged … … then i walked … …
- “issit half the distance liao???” i asked myself when i came to the 1st U-turn.
- No lor.
- So i walked … … then i jogged … … then i walked … …
- “this is boring leh … …” i thot.

Scene 5
- 2nd U-turn … yup, shd be half the distance liao and got drink station.
- Grabbed a cup of water and a cup of isotonic drink.
- Continued to walk, walk, walk … …

Scene 6
- Ah! Can see Millenia liao!
- So started jogging again.
- Man called, asking me where I was.
- Er … … told him abt 1km fr finishing.
- He was at Marina, still walking twds Millenia.
- Then I saw the finishing line … … “but I’m reaching soon.”
- “then u run slowly slowly lah.”
- aaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh … … tt means no pic of my finishing moments :( .
- i stepped on my pedal, and ran twds the finishing line.
- Feeling gd while ‘chiong-ing’ twds the goal. :D

Scene 7
- Yeah! Tink i completed it within 1hr, better than the target timing tt I’d set. -.-V

Scene 8
- Collected goodies and the bag.
- Took pics and more pics with Joan. :D
- Enjoyed my tea & McMuffin :d

Nvr thot tt i wld participate in a run, for i dreaded running all along. Always being one of the last few to complete 2.4 during sch days, i hated running … …

Hv not been training bcos of sch holidays and bz schedule. I guess i’ll take 1.5hrs, but will still aim to finish the 5km in 1hr15min.

Mr Man, pls get ready McD’s cinnamon melts at the finishing line :d.

Everyone is into running … … daddy runs, kids run & mummy oso runs :D . Jio-ed by Lil’ Fish, so signed up the girls for their 1st run: The Cold Storage Kids Run, under the 700m fun run category.

Why am i interested in tis topic??? Bcos my girls normally slp vy late (ard 11pm) compared to my gf’s kids (ard 9pm) and they tink slp’g is a waste of time bcos they can’t play. Actually i thot they only need 8-9hrs of slp like adult, rather than >10hrs for toddlers. But based on the chart abv, GG shd hv 10.75hrs of slp and ALY shd hv 10hrs of slp daily.

Coincidentally, ALY’s tcher asked her class to present a pcs of news daily. Being #2 on the register bk, it’s her turn today. So i got her to present tis, then she’ll know why she needs to hv enough slp and it’s a gd pcs of information to share with her class too.

Ashley is happy today bcos her tcher said her presentation was gd, and rewarded her. Yay! Hope tt tis will encourage her to speak up more often.

Man … not referring to any man or my Man :D . I’m saying it’s vy scary … … tt time flies sooooooo fast.

Today, woke up and was tinking abt tis wk’s activities, and Ashley’s sch re-opens on Fri kinda frightened me. Not bcos i’d not prep her things (and i hd), but bcos a new yr is starting … ie, 2008 is ending.

Dun understand why tis yr is especially fast, issit bcos i was too busy to notice it? i guess so … … tis yr got quite a lot of things, other than the usual stuff: more performances, more enrichment class, more arty stuff, more outings … … everyday rush here and there. I feel tired, Man too … … wat abt the kids?

My biggest achievement tis yr is tt i exercise REGULARLY since Jan. It wasn’t my last yr’s new yr resolution, as i dun dare to make one (knowing myself too well) … … i only enjoy slow slow exercise like yoga or pilates, but hv stopped since we moved here. Many times, i’ll find myself searching for an excuse not to exercise. Well, sometimes i gave in and sometimes i jus hd to force myself to wear the running shoes and get out of the hse.

i’m so proud of myself :) . Hopefully 2009 will b another fruitful and meaningful yr.

Read with horror when I saw on the newspaper tt HK is recalling Yili’s products bcos of China’s melamine milk power scare.

Abt 1wk ago, FIL bot Yili’s ice-cream for the kids. I took a bite and found the ice-cream tasted awful compared to other more established brands, and vy vy sweet. There were only 3pcs in the pack: 1 ate by GG, and 1.5 ate by Ashley, 0.5 threw away. Hopefully, these ice-creams weren’t the tainted ones and luckily the girls only ate once and not too much.
